This Canadian Westinghouse table radio was one of my very first eBay purchases when I joined in the year 2000. In hindsight I probably paid too much, but I was an eBay noob so got a bit excited to find radios online.
The chassis was in relatively good condition, but the cabinet was quite bad cosmetically and also required some gluing of open seams. The knobs obviously were not original. At least the plastic dial cover was good.
Restoration of the chassis was uneventful and the radio worked immediately after, although it definitely needed an alignment as it was badly out of tune.
After stripping the cabinet, I decided to leave it showing the natural grain. This was mainly due to the fact I had never worked with toning lacquer at that point in time, and didn’t really want to experiment on this unit. Of course it doesn’t look original, but I think quite presentable. Certainly the customer who eventually purchased this from me was extremely happy.
This restoration was done in the spring/summer of 2016, for a total of 18 hours
