1948 Stromberg-Carlson 872H AM-FM Table Radio

Here is a Stromberg Carlson Model 872H, made in 1948-1949.  One of the early radios which included the relatively new FM band.
As seen in the before and after photos, this was a very dirty “barn find”, but it did clean up nicely and there was no major corrosion inside.
As the existing paper capacitors were all Stromberg Carlson branded, I decided to re-stuff them to keep the underside looking as original as possible.
This radio originally had an embedded loop antenna in the rear cover. This antenna loop was missing, so a suitable replacement was found in my salvage inventory, and mounted to the interior of the cover. After a full alignment was done, this antenna performed well.
A new label was printed up for the bottom of the cabinet, and new decals were applied over each of the front controls for a ‘like new’ appearance.
Total restoration time:  21 hours.
