Another very dirty “barn find”. Cool 1957 styled clock radio made by the Bulova Watch Co. Other than being dirty, this one was not too time consuming to restore, about 4 hours. Unfortunately the clock face has a crack in the plastic, and one of the knobs is not original.
It cleaned up well. The clock mechanism was easy to clean and re-lubricate. The tuning capacitor rubber mounts were badly deteriorated and so replaced. This is a common issue with the majority of radios I receive for servicing and restoring.
As seen in the chassis underside images, typical shoddy previous work had been done in replacing of filter capacitors. It is an easier and neater process these days as the filter capacitors are made much smaller in size than they used to be.
A new, polarized white line cord was installed to replace the original which had become brittle in parts.
