1950 Zenith H615 AM Table Radio

AM table radio with Ivory plaskon cabinet featuring typical very-cool Zenith styling of the era. I found this in 1997 at my favourite cross-border flea market on Walden Ave. in Buffalo NY. As found, the control knobs were missing, but I found the pointer knob loose inside the cabinet. The rear cover with loop antenna was also missing. Cabinet had a major crack on the bottom, but was easily repairable. the restoration was fairly routine. I found and purchased original knobs from a used knob supplier in the USA. Instead of trying to source an original loop antenna, used a “ferri-loopstick” instead as the antenna coil, with a long wire for antenna. This can be seen in the rear view–I mounted it on to the tuning capacitor with a suitable bracket. Restoration time was about 12 1/2 hours.
