Classic design 1952 Admiral radio-phono combination. I bought this in 1996 in Buffalo at the now-defunct Walden Ave. flea market. I restored this in 2019, taking about 19 hours total. Was in pretty good condition from the start, and a relatively easy restoration project.
After re-capping, there was no reception on power-up. It turned out that there was a broken wire on the oscillator coil. Once this was repaired, reception was restored.
The original cartridge in the phonograph had very low output. This cartridge was a single stylus model, made to work with 78 RPM records as well as the new at the time 33 1/3 RPM records. The stylus on these was really a compromise thickness. I replaced this with a new Pfansteihl P-228-D cartridge with dual stylii which will play all records properly.
The record changer had two small drive belts which were stretched to the point of slippage. I was able to source two exact replacements from V-M Audio.
This unit turned out well both electronically and cosmetically after the work put into it.
